Granite Worktop Care & Maintenance

🧼 Daily Cleaning

  • Wipe with warm water and mild dish soap using a soft cloth or sponge.

  • Dry with a microfiber cloth to avoid streaks and water marks.

  • Clean spills straight away, especially acidic ones like wine, coffee, vinegar, or lemon juice.

🚫 What to Avoid

  • No harsh cleaners: vinegar, bleach, ammonia, or bathroom sprays.

  • No abrasives: scouring pads or powders can scratch the surface.

  • No heavy impact: don’t drop heavy items on the worktop.

🔪 Protection Tips

  • Use chopping boards for food prep to avoid scratches.

  • Always use trivets or heat mats: Granite handles heat, but thermal shock can crack it.

  • Don’t sit or stand on the surface: Pressure on unsupported areas may cause cracks.

🧽 Stain & Mark Removal

  • Stubborn marks: Non-abrasive cream cleaner or a paste of baking soda + water. Leave briefly, then wipe.

  • Dried residue (like gum, paint, or food): Gently scrape with a plastic scraper, then clean as normal.

🛡️ Sealing

  • Granite is porous, so most worktops are sealed.

  • Test yearly: sprinkle water – if it beads, the seal is intact; if it soaks in, reseal.

  • Reseal every 1–2 years with a good quality stone sealer.

With proper care, your granite worktop will remain beautiful and functional for many years. Just clean it regularly, avoid harsh chemicals, and protect it from high heat and sharp objects, and it should stay in great condition!
